Memorizing Scripture

Psalms 119:11  Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

While finishing breakfast with some friends the other morning, we began to share our prayer request and one of the women present made a very common statement.  She has trouble memorizing scripture.  She reads the word faithfully, but yet memorizing them has become difficult.

I have found that we as believers often times rely on our own strength, instead of asking the Holy Spirit that is within us to help.

When reading the bible, if I come across a verse that jumps out at me, I stop and repeat it several times, each time imagining and seeing the verse.  I then thanks the Lord that His word is in my spirit and in my heart.

The next time I pray for someone, if that particular bible verse is needed, it will come out of the reserve so to speak.  It will come out through the power of the Holy Spirit, not on my own ability.

If you have trouble memorizing scripture, try that simple exercise.  Read the verse several times.  See and imagine the verse, and then thank the Lord that His word is in your spirit.

I am confident when the times comes for you to pray, while letting the Holy Spirit take over, those verses will be used for His Bride.

Thank you Lord for your word is hidden in my heart, and will be used for the edification of your Bride.

Who do you think you are?

Proverbs 23:7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.

Satan is in the business of convincing us that we are not equipped to do a certain task and that we are not qualified in the kingdom of God, and he enjoys making us feel unworthy.
Who do you think you are? Are you a conqueror, can you do all things through Christ Jesus that gives you strength? Are you the head and not the tail? Are you a child of the king?

You should have answered yes to all of these.

Time is our most precious asset, and we should invest in it wisely.

When the Lord called me to write and be His ambassador, I began to do my part. The word says Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. The scripture does not say, God draws near to you, and then you draw near to Him. Sometimes we as believers get it backwards. We wait for God to move when all He wants is for us to take that first step in faith.

As I began to do my part, I began to “see” what God has in store for me. At first, it was difficult preaching in front of the family, but they gladly critiqued my preaching. I began to listen to myself on the tape, and could hear where I spoke too fast, where I did not finish my idea correctly then would take notice of the areas that needed improving.

I began to write and take courses, entered a few writing contest where I failed miserably. God called me to do something and the point is that I took that first step and God honors baby steps. After the baby steps comes the balance and the maturity. God requires obedience, not perfection. You do not have to get it right the first time.

The point I would like to get across to you, is take that first step in what you see yourself doing and what God has called you to do.

Weed out the wrong influence you receive from your mind. How? Replace it with the positive word of God. Your are where you are at by your thought pattern. Good thoughts bear good fruit, bad thought bear bad fruit. Paint a positive picture of what you would like to see yourself doing. Go so far as to speak your desires aloud.

What burns in you? It does not have to be spiritual, it could be a happy marriage, successful in your business, perhaps taking that long awaited vacation.

Will it happen overnight? No. Nevertheless, it will happen. We have the force of the Holy Spirit, and speaking those things which are not as though they are into existence. Remember, the same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead resides in you.

May the Lord give you that passion and desire to do what burns in you, and may you go forth as that anointed ambassador of God.
